Technical Writing the New Way

If I was still writing the way that I was writing when I started this business and writing on the same topics, I would not still be in the technical writing business because my writing would have no relevance to what is going on today. For example, my knowledge of Java is the main thing that got me my current job, and Java was not invented when I started out in this field.

To survive as a technical writer, I have had to learn new methods of communication.

I recently found Facebook. I would have never expected Facebook to be a new medium for technical writing. Facebook is not a medium for publishing books or large instruction sets, but it's great for making business contacts and for short bits of information that you want to communicate. Through facebook, I rediscovered blogging and started to think of it in a different way.

Michael Stelzner introduced me to the Blog Squad who then reintroduce me to blogging. I'd pretty much given up on my blogs because nobody seemed to be looking at them.
I saw some tips on their site, and they gave me some ideas. That's what charged me up to start blogging again. It also has convinced me that I really need to learn all of these new technologies.
